Interventional radiology (IR) offers minimally-invasive, non-surgical, and often-times, life-saving procedures. Interventional radiologists treat disease from the inside - without a scalpel. Interventional radiology is the future of medicine - yet, many patients - and even healthcare providers - are unaware of these treatment options.

Meet two, non-profit organizations, on a mission to change this! Both work to ensure interventional radiology is accessible and available to all who need it.

The Interventional Initiative (The II) is devoted to raising awareness of, access to and advocacy for minimally-invasive image-guided procedures (MIIPs). We treat the untreatable.

Road2IR is bringing minimally-invasive, image-guided procedures to East Africa. Through outreach and education, we create training programs allowing broader access to these much needed procedures in resource-limited settings.

And, we are joining forces!

In Spring 2023, The II and Road2IR will team up to produce episode 5 of the II's documentary, Without A Scalpel. We'll be filming from Tanzania to highlight the great work Road2IR is doing to sustainably bring interventional radiology to Sub-Saharan Africa.
