From humble beginnings in 1995 to becoming the only Black-led, culturally specific victim services agency in Pierce County, Our Sisters’ House has always existed to fill the gap. What began as a transitional home for Black girls in the juvenile justice system has grown into a lifeline for countless Black women, girls, and families impacted by domestic violence, sexual assault, and generational trauma.

But for all these years, we’ve never had a permanent home. We’ve rented office spaces, converted apartments, and adapted to whatever was available — always putting our clients first, even when our foundation wasn’t stable.

Now, we have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to change that. We’ve been offered the chance to purchase the entire third floor of the Passages Building in downtown Tacoma — the same building we’ve called home since 2020. With more space, we can create a welcoming lobby for survivors, a wellness room for healing, and dedicated spaces for programming and support groups that no longer depend on availability elsewhere.

This purchase would not only give Our Sisters’ House the stability we’ve never had — it would also strengthen our long-term sustainability. With this space, we’d pay into equity instead of rent, serve more families, and generate income through subleases.

But we need your help. We must raise $250,000 by December 31, 2025, to secure the down payment. As we celebrate our 30th anniversary, we’re asking our community to stand with us once again — to invest in a future where Black women and girls are safe, supported, and surrounded by care that sees them.
