Story

In 2022, the new Changemakers Alliance (CALL) extension of Minnesota Women’s Press began hosting conversations with people around the state. Based on that feedback, in 2023 we are co-creating several multimedia series, including:

1. Women-led efforts to improve public safety to reduce gender-based violence and offer support to people in crisis
2. BIPOC entrepreneurs who are revitalizing statewide Main Streets
3. What it means for Minnesota to be a safe haven for reproductive rights
4. Values & Vision book discussion groups to connect rural, suburban, and urban CALL members

WHY US?

Founded in 1985, Minnesota Women’s Press is the longest continuously run feminist publication in the country. Our mission-driven brand is known for lifting up powerful, everyday women who are solving issues in their communities. Our commitment to first-person narratives, solutions journalism, and diverse sources is how we have survived in a precarious time for independent media.

• 2021 first-place winner as top media website for our size, Minnesota Newspaper Association
• Print magazine return rates are at an industry-low 6 percent
• Many of our 550 distribution sites run out of copies within two weeks
• Average 25,000 monthly readers in print and online
• Lenfest Institute highlighted Changemakers Alliance as one of three top new revenue models to watch
• Changemakers Alliance was in Top 10 of a national media competition for civic engagement

Women’s leadership is needed today more than ever.

The 2022 Local News Fund is a program administered by Local Media Foundation (LMF), a 501(c)(3) organization affiliated with Local Media Association. The purpose of the program is to allow independent and family-owned news organizations to solicit tax-deductible donations from their communities for journalism projects that focus on critical local issues.
