On August 8, 2026 we will begin a two-week, 113 mile water walk led by women to stop the Constitution Pipeline, a proposed 30" fracked gas pipeline running from Pennsylvania to Schoharie County, New York.

The Women's Water Walk, which men are also encouraged to join, will begin near Damascus, N.Y. and continue until August 23rd through towns along the proposed pipeline route.

Rejected in 2016 by New York State as a danger to our water, the pipeline has returned to line the pockets of big corporations. The pipeline would cut through 125 miles of wild rivers and forests in New York and Pennsylvania and provide a corridor of power for AI data centers – along with fracked gas power plants, deafening compressor stations, and acid rains that will destroy our way of life and the health of our ecosystems.

Our walk is rooted in love, prayer and positive action. We will sing as we walk and pause to make offerings at the many rivers, lakes and waterways that cross our path. At the end of each day we will host a gathering to learn together and discuss community solutions, actions and legislative agendas to protect our land and water – focusing not only on what we seek to stop, but also on what we are trying to build.

WHO WE ARE

We are the womb carriers, sisters, mothers, and grandmothers who have been given a sacred responsibility to protect the water, land and all life for the generations to come. We are leading this water prayer walk to uphold the Laws of Nature and call people into awareness regarding a grave threat to our communities.

We refuse to allow these projects that put profit over life. We choose thriving communities, rich soil, productive farms, abundant fish, waterfalls, wildlife, clean water, healthy air, a stable climate, and the rich biodiversity of our forests.

We invite teachers, students, farmers, neighbors, workers, artists, faith leaders, elected representatives and all relations to walk with us. You can walk for a week, a day, or even an hour. One step at a time, we are planting seeds of love, action and change for the generations to come.

WHY WE WALK

Led by the women, we are walking the path of this proposed pipeline through the ancestral territories of the Lenape, Susquehannock, and Haudenosaunee Peoples with a prayer of transformation – to turn this pipeline route into a songline of remembrance of the truths that we hold to be self-evident.

We the People affirm our rights under Article I, Section 19 of the New York State Constitution to clean air, water, and a healthful environment; and under the U.S. Declaration of Independence to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. It was 250 years ago, in 1776, that the United States of America came into being based on these principles, nourished by the original beauty and spirit of this land.

Our symbol is the blue heron, a sacred water bird of these lands that reminds us of our right to self-determination and how to live in balance – guided by thoughtful, deliberate action.

People of all faiths and traditions are invited to walk and join our collective prayer for the water and for all life.

HOW YOUR DONATIONS WILL BE USED

All funds raised from this campaign will support our work leading up to, during and following the Water Prayer Walk. It is one thing to fight a single destructive project, but another to sustain the community networks we need to build a different vision of a resilient, thriving future. The monies raised will allow us to continue local organizing to stop the Constitution Pipeline and help under-represented communities in Central New York protect the rich biodiversity of the water, forests, and farms in the region.

Funds raised by this campaign will go towards:

Travel Expenses & Accommodations:
- Rentals of campsites and housing along the 100 mile walk route for a core group of 50 walkers and elders
- Food for participating walkers and volunteers
- Car rentals and gas money
- Gas money for volunteers and musicians to join during the walk and at nightly informational events
Operational & Administrative support:
- 3 months of support for the planning and organizing team
- Town by town outreach and organizing prior to the walk
- Organizing informational and music events each evening along the walk route
- Sustained town by town follow-up organizing and advocacy work after the walk is completed
Educational Materials:
- Posters, signs, brochures and printed information to share along the walk route and during community sessions to educate the communities about the pipeline and it's associated risks
Miscellaneous & Additional Expenses including:
- Firewood for the sacred fire
- Copal, smudge
- Moondance drum transport mechanism
- Website, social media videos and content creation
- Creation of a water walk songbook and recordings so that we can sing together and learn each other's songs!
