What is WoofTrax?

WoofTrax is a free dog-walking app with dog-powered donations! The free WoofTrax app (available in Google Play and the Apple App Store) donates money to animal charities based on user activity. The more you walk for WAHS, and the more people who use the app, the more Charity Points earned. The more Charity Points, the more WoofTrax can donate to your favorite animal charity - US!

“Charity Points”?

Each ¼ mile walk or longer logged on the WoofTrax app earns 10 “Charity Points” for WAHS. Earn the most in August, and win a wellness prize for your dog (among others for walking)!

Why walk?

Just like how the outdoors and exercise are important for our wellness, they’re also important for dogs’ wellness!

Walking off your dog’s excess energy not only keeps them physically healthy, but also reduces the likelihood of your dog engaging in unwanted behaviors like chewing and digging, as well as provides training and socialization opportunities, and allows your dog to relax by taking in the world how they do best: with their nose! Sniffing is mentally stimulating and enriching, and doing something with your dog that they love strengthens both their brainpower and their bond with you.

Just ask Calix, our resident dog and Walk-A-Thon mascot! His daily walks and Sniffaries with his favorite people add value and excitement to his life, and help him remain mellow, fit and joyful.

The WoofTrax Walk-A-Thon reflects Wellness Awareness Month's goal to encourage prioritization of self-care, healthy routines, and activities that foster physical, mental, emotional and social well-being, and so the prizes reflect the same. Your contribution MATTERS!

Participating in this event and fundraising are EASY ways you can make a difference. A majority of WAHS’s funding comes from generous donors and supporters like you! Because of you, we are able to welcome over 200 animals into our facility every year to become fully vetted and matched with a loving home at an affordable adoption cost.

All money raised will go towards our animals’ full vetting including their wellness exams upon intake, and their vaccinations, microchip and spay/neuter prior to adoption! This vetting is done to prevent the spread of infectious diseases, reduce overpopulation, and, most importantly, improve our animals’ quality of life! As an animal welfare organization, we model responsible ownership - and encourage the same of people with pets - through providing adequate medical care to assure our animals are as healthy as possible before being placed in their forever home. Your giving directly improves animals’ lives and brings them one step closer to finding their people!

No problem! You can still participate by choosing "Walk with Lexi" or creating your own virtual dog to walk with on the WoofTrax app. The “Most Award” prizes for walking are dog-centered, however, so if you win, gift a dog friend!

Have a barrier to walking or downloading the WoofTrax app?

Also no problem! If you would like to participate despite any barriers to walking, you can still choose to fundraise for merch and your chance to win a raffle prize.

Not in Winona?

You guessed it.. no problem! The Walk-A-Thon is entirely virtual, so you can still participate and support our animals even if you’re not local! And if you are unable to attend our in-person award ceremony, WAHS will gladly ship to you.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE:

There are two competitive parts to the WoofTrax Walk-A-Thon: walking, and fundraising.
