Hundreds of people enjoy the grounds of the John Wornall House each month, from field trips to sightseers to dog walkers. A large maple tree overlooking the Wornall House has died and could potentially create a safety issue for visitors to the house. We've already received a very generous donation from Kansas City Master Gardener Sherry Forsee - will you help us bridge the gap and help us cover the remaining costs for the removal of this potentially hazardous tree?

About the Tree

The tree we are removing was not present in 1858 when the Wornall House was built. It was planted sometime in the late nineteenth or early twentieth century. Maple trees in an urban environment tend to live for around 100 years. While we don't idly cut down our beautiful tree cover on our grounds, this tree has lived out its natural lifespan.

If We Exceed Our Goal

All funds received in excess of our tree maintenance bill will be earmarked specifically for future gardening or landscaping work at the John Wornall House.
