Mark Becker's Story

Hello all. Thank you for taking the time to take a look at my page and support a couple of great causes close to my heart.

I, along with all the other PGA professionals in Wisconsin, will be celebrating the Wisconsin PGA (WPGA) turning 100 years old in 2022! In celebration, I will be playing 100 holes of golf at Irish Waters Golf Club on June 21st, 2022...first day of summer...most amount of daylight!

I am asking for your support for both PGA REACH, https://www.pgareach.org/wisco... which is a PGA driven program with the goal of growing our game within 3 main areas: Youth, Military & Inclusion. Being a member on the WPGA Board of Directors the past couple of years, I have seen the importance of this initiative to grow the game with our future generations, military veterans, and creating a welcoming environment for all people into the game of golf.

My goal is to raise $2,000 or more in donations and it will be split 50/50 with PGA REACH Wisconsin and The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation of Wisconsin (JDRF).

JUVENILE DIABETES RESEARCH  FOUNDATION    Wisconsin Chapter – JDRF

Many people struggle with diabetes themselves or know of someone who struggles daily with diabetes. It is an on-going battle for many. My oldest sister has had diabetes since childhood and has had to deal with many health issues in her life related to diabetes, including kidney transplants and eye issues. In 1994, I was fortunate enough to be able to donate my kidney to my sister to help with her battle, but the battle continues for her, and so many others...

Some startling facts about diabetes:

1)   1.6 million Americans are living with Type 1 Diabetes (T1D);

2)  64,000 people are diagnosed each year in the US.

3) 5 million people in the US are expected to have T1D by 2050, including nearly 600,000 youth.

4) Between 2001 & 2009, there was a 21 percent increase in the prevalence of T1D in people under 20.

5) In the US, there are $16 billion in T1D-associated healthcare expenditures and lost income annually.

Thank you again for your support in raising money and awareness to help the fight against juvenile diabetes and growing the game of golf to our military, youth and being inclusive to all.

Also, remember to be an organ donor. It takes just a minute to sign up and save a life:   DonateLife Wisconsin

Looking forward to 100 holes on June 21st! I sincerely appreciate your support of these two great charities. LETS DO THIS!
