This Sunday matinee will have you swinging in time for sunset dinner, featuring the DJ stylings of Chris Frantz (The Taking Head) of Talking Heads and the Tom Tom Club, electro funk star Kid Ginseng, New Haven's popular post-disco duo HEAVEN (Radio Heaven), the latin dance sounds of Luis Luna (Modulo Lunar), and the alt hip-hop, funk, and r&b grooves of Emma Speer (EMUSE).

ABOUT THE DJs

Charton Christopher Frantz is an American musician and record producer. He is the drummer for both Talking Heads and Tom Tom Club, which he co-founded with wife and Talking Heads bassist Tina Weymouth. July 2020 Chris Frantz released a new book, Remain In Love.

In 2002, Frantz was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Talking Heads. Chris has been a longtime resident of Fairfield, Connecticut, and has been a DJ at WPKN for many years (The Taking Head).

Kid Ginseng: Born in the Bahamas, 25% French American citizen. Mixing and scratching since 1997, he produces tracks, and runs the critically acclaimed Kraftjerkz label played by DJs such as I-F, Helena Hauff, Danny Daze, Nina Kraviz, Solvent etc.

From live-party New Haven DJ nights to the WPKN airwaves, Heaven (Radio Heaven) DJs Amethyst Kiss and Velvet Fiend play Italo Disco, Electronic Pop, Alternative Dance, Boogie, Synth-Funk, and so much more!

Luis Luna (Modulo Lunar) was born in Ecuador. He is a radio producer, artist and community organizer. He focuses his energy on immigrant rights issues and community radio. Watch this one spin!

Emma Speer (EMUSE) was born and bred in Bridgeport. Besides travel and a brief stint in the far away land of ~college~, she has lived in Bridgeport her whole life. She attended Yale University where she received a B.S. in Cognitive Science, particularly focusing on implicit bias, language, and humor. She also nerds out doing performance, such as improv and one-woman shows, as well as writing, painting, and podcasting. She’s extremely passionate about wisdom, humility, and acknowledging our interconnectedness. She has dedicated herself to fostering these traits in others, particularly today’s youth. Some of her maxims include, “Don’t sit in your poopy diaper!” and from Maya Angelou, “If you know better, do better.”
