Firearms Training INVITATION

$40 registration to cover lunch, snacks, and drinks.

Training provided at no cost for educators in Sheridan County school districts. However, the cost for any non-district employees or volunteers will be $200 + $40.

Training will take place at Sheridan County School District #3 and the Sheridan County Sportsmen's Association.

August 10 and 11. (12 hours each day)

Prior to carrying a firearm on School District property or at a School District event or activity, employees and volunteers shall complete an initial training course comprised of not less than 16 hours of live fire handgun training, and 8 hours of scenario-based training using nonlethal training, firearms, and ammunition with a District-approved instructor.

The training requirements and curriculum for the initial course shall include the following:
Live Fire Handgun Training – 16 Hours

Firearm Safety & Handling (2 hrs)
Marksmanship Fundamentals (3 hrs)
Reloading, Malfunction Clearance, Transitions (3 hrs)
Defensive Shooting Techniques (4 hrs)
Low-Light & Stress Fire Drills (2 hrs)
Live Fire Qualification Drills & Final Skills Test (2 hrs)

Trainees must demonstrate safe handling, holster use, and meet accuracy standards under timed conditions.

Scenario-Based Training with Non-Lethal Tools – 8 Hours
Delivered using Simunitions, UTM, or equivalent, this includes:

Force-on-Force Scenario Training (4 hrs)
(e.g., active shooter, hostage, hallway encounter)
Decision-Making Under Stress (2 hrs)
Legal & Ethical Use-of-Force Review (1 hr)
Post-Incident Procedures & Communication (1 hr)

Non-lethal marking cartridges and protective gear must be worn; participants must demonstrate proper judgment and escalation control.
