We fell in love with the people of Ciudadela Sucre—11 neighborhoods dotting the hills of the city of Soacha outside of Bogota, Colombia on our first trip, in 2013 as international volunteers with Habitat for Humanity Colombia. In 2019, Habitat for Humanity International decided to close its Colombia office. Desiring to continue working alongside our friends in Ciudadela Sucre, we formed our own non-profit—Building Trust Americas. Currently we are registered in the United States as a non-profit and have tax exempt status under Section 501(c)(3) of the US Internal Revenue Code.

During 2022 your donations funded the construction of a long stairway that connects two areas of the same neighborhood along a route that was in very poor condition. In addition, at the request of the Ciudadela Sucre Community Action Board (think neighborhood association) we helped fund the renovation of the Community Center, which is used for organizational meetings, activities with children and elderly people, and other social events by and for the community. Finally, we paid for the tuition and school supplies of six adult students to help them complete their secondary degrees and thereby improve their opportunities in terms of future professional and personal development. Your continued donations will help us meet our 2022 fundraising goals and provide assistance with projects for 2023.
