North Band has been part of this community since North High School opened its doors in 1972. Over five decades, our students have built a tradition of excellence across marching, jazz, and concert performance, one that Siouxland families have watched grow year after year. That tradition continues today, with our program growing from 109 students last year to 122 this year.

STARFEST takes place Saturday, September 26, at Elwood Olsen Stadium on the Morningside University campus, drawing marching bands from Iowa, Nebraska, and South Dakota to compete before professional adjudicators and a stadium full of families. At the close of finals, the top band is awarded the Larry Kisor Grand Champion Award, named for the director whose two decades at North High built a program recognized nationally in marching, concert, and jazz performance.

STARFEST provides roughly 50% of our marching band budget each year. Your gift directly funds travel and competition fees, instrument repair and purchasing, and opportunities like summer music camps our students couldn’t otherwise access.
