With the Holidays in sight, we are entering our year end fund raising season. With that in mind, I am reaching out to you to ask you to consider supporting TLT in 2024 at the same or higher levels than you did in 2023 or past years.

We have been busy in 2024, furthering the progress on several land conservation projects, and completing our National Land Trust re-acreditation project. It has also been a pleasure to get our new Operations Manager, Kate Ray, up to speed. We expect to be even more active in our land conservation efforts in 2025. This will require more time and more dollars to move conservation projects closer to completion. For example, we have an exciting project in which we are conserving a parcel of agricultural land that has been farmed for over 150 years. If we can complete the work to secure an agricultural easement on this tract, we can keep the land in agricultural use, engaging the next generation of Tiverton based farmers.

We are also working on a number of other land conservation projects across diverse parts of the Tiverton community. The TLT Board expects to have more to share on these projects soon!

While TLT remains a mostly volunteer effort, we have modest regular overhead and variable costs. We pay rent, salary, and utilities, and in the variable bucket we have to pay lawyers fees, and the costs of items like land appraisals and engineering studies. It’s your dollars that fund our operating budget.

For over 39 years, since 1995 and the effort to save what is now Pardon Gray Preserve, Tiverton residents have been providing the financial support to keep TLT running. Thanks in advance for continuing your support as we enter this important fundraising period.
