UPDATE:

We made it to Europe! We’re a few weeks in to the tour and while we are making a ton of new friends, the shows don’t pay support very much and our merch sales are lower than they are in the states. All good tho! We’re playing it smart and safe, using hostels and finding safe parking for the van. Any amount that folks donate at this point goes a long way to helping us know we can afford to stay on the road, and maybe we’ll be able to splurge on a decent hotel and meal here and there.

We met MOLCHAT DOMA while playing at Darker Waves in Huntington Beach in 2023. Their trailer was close to ours in the artist area, and we introduced ourselves and let them know when we were playing. Later that day, they told us they caught a few songs and liked what we were doing. We fanboyed out a bit and took a photo with them because it was a moment we wanted to remember.

Fast forward a few months and as we're touring the US we receive a DM from Molchat, asking if we were available to go to Europe for 6 weeks in the fall and if it was feasible. OF COURSE, we said yes! We had been following them since this band's inception and there was no universe where we weren't going to make that happen.

I knew almost immediately that we were going to have to do a crowdfunding campaign. The upfront costs of flights, hiring a van and driver/merch person, getting merch made overseas, and the number of off/travel days on the tour route weren't something we could come up with on our own from touring the US. There have been many times when people have suggested crowdfunding to us, like our first tour or when our van was totaled, but I've always felt like a band only has one really good crowdfunding project they can do and I wanted to wait until it was something monumental.

This is that opportunity. MOLCHAT DOMA is the world's largest modern band in our genre, and the growth we could see not only in Europe but in the US from the exposure could be career-making. Asking for help isn't the easiest thing for us, but this is one of those make-or-break kind of moments that allows us the opportunity to ask for help, to let the community that has formed around this music really become a part of this story. Yes, this feels huge for Urban Heat, but it feels huge for our scene as well.
