When a dog finds himself in a moment that causes apprehension and worry, just like us, he will do his best to keep himself safe.

What does this look like?

We might yell to someone to stay away or run away from the situation.

Our dogs may not be able to run away from a perceived threatening or unwanted happening.

Our dogs too may be yelling stay away. Many humans shut down this yell or inner struggle with means that any of us would find upsetting if done to us.

Can we get a dog to stop the yelling?

Are we trying to understand why he is yelling? Is it fear?

Are we trying hard to help him to feel better or are we just trying to “fix” what we are seeing?

Trauma is real for us as well as for our 4 legged family members.

Compliance is not cooperation.
Compliance is also not healing.

Healing comes from within and to facilitate this in our dogs (and ourselves), we need to become trauma informed. Come chat with us and begin this journey!
