For two decades, the Youth Empowerment Project has been a steady, bright light for children and families in the Long Look and East End community of Tortola. Since opening our doors in 2005, YEP has welcomed more than 5,000 young people and their families in the East End/Long Look community and beyond. Through academic support, sports, arts, STEM programming, field trips, mentorship, and leadership development, YEP continues to serve more than 65 children daily, with hundreds more participating throughout the year.

In 2025, we celebrated our 20th anniversary – a remarkable milestone made possible only through the unwavering support of donors, sponsors, partners, community members, and the dedicated staff who have poured heart and vision into this work. Where Your Gift Goes
Each year, YEP provides daily after-school programming for more than 65 children, as well as Easter, Summer, and teen programmes that serve more than 200 young people. Your gift helps us keep our doors open, our staff supported, and our programmes strong for the children who count on us.

Why Your Support Is Needed Now
Demand for YEP continues to grow. About 85% of our “YEPpies” return year after year, and more than 20 children remain on a waiting list because our current facility is at full capacity. At the same time, costs for staffing, transportation, food, and programme supplies continue to rise. Your support at this moment helps us stabilize what we’ve built and prepare to welcome even more young people into a safe, structured environment after school and during holidays.

The Impact of YEP
We support our youth and their families by providing academic support, enrichment programmes, and caring relationships with trusted adults. In 2025 alone, over 75% of our YEPpies were on the honour roll, and we celebrated 20 graduates, including two salutatorians and one valedictorian. Beyond academics, our children build confidence through YEP Tech (Life Hackers), Messy Canvas, Green Avocados, field trips, sports, and mental health programming like yoga and calming food preparation.

How Your Gift Helps
Your donation makes YEP a safe, consistent “second home” where young people can learn, play, explore, and dream. It helps us offer after-school care, Easter and Summer programmes, teen leadership opportunities like LEAD BVI, and special events such as Spirit Week, community open houses, pantry drives, and Colour Splash walk/runs. When you give, you invest in the next generation of leaders in the Virgin Islands and ensure that YEP will be here for them for the next 20 years.
