Assalamu Alaikum!

My name is Jannah Dekhil, and I am an Eagle Scout candidate with Troop 2399 in Santa Clara. I am hosting this special event as my Eagle Scout project, dedicated to raising awareness for the vital mission of Yalla Kafala.

Kafala is the Islamic system of guardianship, which is similar to adoption but following Islamic guidelines (eg. keeping the child’s family name). Yalla Kafala is a non-profit organization that works to ensure that orphans and vulnerable children in Egypt are given the highest quality of care. They are pioneers in emphasizing the importance of family-based care, and they have successfully found loving homes for over 500 children and provided training for over 1,200 families.

Join us this November, during national adoption month, for an evening of awareness, community, and inspiration. This event is a unique opportunity to hear directly from Yalla Kafala’s founder, Rasha Mekky, who will give a presentation on the power of family-based care, followed by an engaging Q&A session where you can have your questions answered directly. (The cost of the tickets will go towards covering the cost of the event, and any remaining funds will be donated directly to Yalla Kafala)

The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "I and the person who looks after an orphan and provides for him, will be in Paradise like this," putting his index and middle fingers together.

Sahih al-Bukhari 6005

I hope to see you there!
