About Us

Located in Yorba Linda, California, the Yorba Linda Middle School Instrumental Music and Colorguard program is made up nearly 200 students from 6th to 8th grade in the areas of Band, Orchestra and Colorguard. Students in the program not only develop their skills in playing a musical instrument or in performing, but they learn how to break complex tasks into simpler steps, gain confidence in their ability to overcome obstacles or adversities, and make lifelong friends along the way. The Instrumental Music program at YLMS believes that music education is a vehicle for growth, and an opportunity for young people to discover their artistry and potential.

Our program is almost entirely maintained via community support, and through the incredible generosity of parents, friends, and other members of our community, we have been able to offer our students incredible opportunities for performance. By pledging $10 (or more) to this donation drive, you help to ensure:

We can clean, repair, and maintain instruments in our inventory to ensure students can learn on the best possible equipment.
We can purchase new instruments to meet the diverse needs of our ever-changing student population.
We can continue to build our music library to better reflect and explore the full range of music making throughout history and across cultures.
We can offer performance opportunities outside of school and financially support logistical needs (transporting students, transporting instruments, etc.).
We can allow for students to showcase their work in state-of-the-art performance venues.
We can purchase awards that celebrate the achievements of our student performers.
We can offer teambuilding activities to make students feel like they are part of something bigger than a simple music class.
