After spreading harmful rhetoric targeting trans athletes and contributing to the ongoing attacks, erasure, and genocide of trans people in this country, Pat Catena sent TransYOUniting a $500 donation.

We are sending it back.

Because accountability is not quietly writing a check to the very community you helped harm.

Real accountability means listening to the people impacted by your words and actions. It means engaging with the communities you are seeking to represent. And it means understanding that trans lives are not political talking points to be used during election season.

Instead of quietly accepting the donation and moving on, we decided to show what people power actually looks like.

Our goal is to raise $5,000 to directly support the work happening every single day through TransYOUniting’s program, the QMNTY Continuum, which includes the YOUr Haven Shelter, the QMNTY “Community” Center, the QMNTY Closet, and the Pantry Café.

Through the QMNTY Continuum, we provide housing support, hot meals and groceries, transportation assistance, workforce development, life skills programming, gender affirming resources, emergency support, clothing and household essentials, community space, and direct support for trans individuals navigating an increasingly hostile political climate.

Right now, trans led nonprofits across this country are being forced to survive in an environment where attacks against trans people continue increasing while resources continue shrinking. Organizations like ours are expected to respond to crisis after crisis while still keeping people fed, housed, supported, and alive.

And we do.

Every single day.

This fundraiser is about more than $500.

It is about refusing to let trans people be attacked publicly and then expected to quietly accept performative gestures instead of real accountability.

It is about showing that our community will continue organizing, supporting one another, and fighting back together.

Because our community is not for sale.
Our lives are not negotiable.
