Last year, Young@Heart made it through the pandemic by making Zoom performances from our computers. Now, with 90% of our members fully vaccinated and COVID precautions in place, we're moving beyond Zoom box concerts into the world of cinematic virtual performances.

On April 17 at 7:30 PM ET, Young@Heart will present our latest work: Something Inside So Strong: A Young@Heart Fantastic Cinematographic Concert. The show will include new renditions of music by Tom Waits, Patti Smith, David Bowie, Iggy Pop, Bonnie Raitt, Nina Simone and many others.

We have no idea when we will be on stages again. We know our new “movie” will provide the next step on the road to performing once again in live venues. Young@Heart is community-funded and we thank you so much for continuing to support us on this journey!

About Young@Heart

What started out in 1982 at a Western Massachusetts elderly housing project to joyfully pass the time instead of passing before your time has developed into the stereotype-defying, generation-crossing musical extravaganza better known as the Young@Heart Chorus - stars of the hit Fox Searchlight documentary Young@Heart.

Born of a belief that the often-marginalized elderly can make great contributions to art, Young@Heart performs songs not commonly sung by older people to build bridges between communities and create shared musical experiences for young and old alike. Young@Heart works to show that age, race, ethnicity, and class need not be a barrier to making great music, and that no life circumstance should act as a hindrance to participating in or enjoying it.

The Fox Searchlight documentary about us, Young@Heart, won two Rose d’Or awards, the LA Film Festival Audience Award, and screened at Sundance and SXSW Festival. Young@Heart has toured internationally and nationally and has developed fans around the world eager to see how joyful and active life and music-making can be as we age.

Ranging in age from 75-93 years old, our singers prove you can grow old without growing boring. With over 50 international tours under their belts, their musical careers were launched long after retirement. Learn more about each of them and their unique lives below.
