Soleil is one of our longest residents and she needs help. She is an extremely loving, athletic and smart one-year-old girl off the euthanasia list at Riverside Shelter.

Our journey with Soleil started back in December of 2023 when we posted a video of her sitting in a kennel at a high kill shelter. From that video she was adopted but after a month, her mom realized she could not take care of her, so Soleil was surrendered to Sandy Dog Rescue. She went through foster after foster because, not only is she extremely smart and athletic (she needs plenty of mental and physical stimulation), she is also very reactive to other dogs.

Soleil finally got into a board and train program where she stayed for three weeks until we found a family who wanted to foster-to-adopt her. Due to their busy schedules and inability to continue her training, Soleil has not improved much and it is clear she needs more help. She is now looking for a new permanent home or a foster home with people who have time to continue her training. Our goal is to raise enough money to put her into board and train for two months ($5000) to continue where she left off and help her grow beyond that.

After training, we hope to find her a human that wants to continue to give her the attention and energy she deserves. She has been let down many times in her young life and with tools from training she will be much easier to handle and her next human will be completely prepared. Her ideal home would be someone who can create structure for her, follow a routine, and give her plenty of exercise.

Due to vet bills and spay and neuter costs, we are extremely low on funding and our only hope of helping Soleil is getting donations, which will allow her to go to training. If you would like to help us you can donate to her training or share her story with potential fosters or adopters. She’s a very sweet (VERY sweet with humans) and special dog and she deserves to find her human.
