Story

There are matching funds from "Tifie Humanitian" that will double the money raised.

In 2021 Emerson Students in Mr. Craner and Ms. Richmond's class raised $3,500 which has provided no-interest business loans to 25+ single mothers in Jinja, Uganda. As they pay back the loans the money is used to help more women start small businesses. The women are provided with a mentor and support. These women have also started a group that meets together bi-weekly. This group has established Tandika Revitalization Foundation.

To build upon what we started in 2021 we are working to build a community center to continue providing support for the women who are apart of Tandika. This foundation is focused on helping revitalize the community by empowering women and helping them become financially self-sufficient. Mr. Craner is personally connected to this foundation and visits when he travels to Uganda.

This year's fundraiser is focused on buying 3 acres of land where a community center will be built. The total cost of the land is $12,000. The community center will be used as a meeting place for the women, a training center, and to meet other needs in the community.

By partnering with this foundation over the next few years the students will be able to see their money at work through personal stories of the women , pictures of the land and pictures of the center.
