To celebrate 15 years of sobriety, Zac has chosen to dedicate this moment to fundraise for the Phoenix Legal Action Network (PLAN). We are in awe of this milestone and humbled by this thoughtful gesture to uplift PLAN and our work.

PLAN is an Arizona nonprofit that advances justice for immigrants and their families. Our team provides free legal support to non-detained immigrants facing deportation in Maricopa County so they can continue calling Arizona home. We also partner with local immigrant-led organizations to develop programs that build autonomy and power in immigrant communities. This year we formed part of the Our Thriving Arizona Coalition, a group of local immigrant rights organizations, to support with Know Your Rights workshops and Rapid Response.

Iris is a lesbian from Guatemala who immigrated to the US because of the persecution she faced due to her sexuality. She is one of the first community members we ever worked with. With the support of PLAN and the Florence Project, she was granted political asylum! Today, Iris lives happily in Phoenix with her wife. Locally, she is involved in the Liberation Project at Trans Queer Pueblo supporting the local LGBTQ+ immigrant community.

In 2023 we invited Iris to showcase her art at our annual event. A lot of the pieces were done during her time in detention. As part of our effort to center immigrant voices we invited Iris to share a bit of her art and story. You can check out her story in her own words here.
