SisterWeb emerged from the hearts and hands of Black doulas and birthing advocates determined to reclaim the joy of birth. As an organization rooted deeply in our community, we don't just support births—we transform them into empowering experiences where Black families welcome their children with pride and celebration. Our work is grounded in both cultural wisdom and empirical evidence that doula support significantly improves maternal and infant health outcomes for communities experiencing healthcare disparities.

For Birthing Families: Dignity Restored, Power Reclaimed

Your generosity brings the presence, guidance, and collaboration of a culturally matched doula into a Black family's birth journey—from early pregnancy through the precious first weeks of parenthood. This isn't just support; it's accompaniment that honors ancestral wisdom while navigating modern healthcare systems.

Our model provides approximately 32 hours of direct support per client through scheduled prenatal sessions, continuous labor support, and structured postpartum visits. This comprehensive approach creates measurable improvements in healthcare utilization, birth experiences, and long-term family wellbeing.

For Birth Workers: Dreams Nurtures, Careers Blossoming

Through our structured career pathway we equip Black women with professional skills while providing stipends and incentives that acknowledge the value of their time and expertise.

Your contribution advances our Champion Dyad Initiative (CDI), an innovative partnership model between community doulas and medical facilities and staff at all five San Francisco birthing sites. Through structured systems change interventions, we create formal channels for bidirectional feedback, clinical integration strategies, and ongoing quality improvement focused on equity. This innovative approach bridges the gap between community-based and hospital-based care, creating more cohesive, respectful, and holistic birth experiences. Research demonstrates that such integrated approaches lead to more effective care coordination, improved communication between providers and patients, and ultimately better health outcomes for birthing people.
