The Daily Californian is pleased to announce the 2026 class of inductees into the Hall of Fame:

Samin Nosrat, ‘02, cook, teacher, and author of the James Beard Award-winning, New York Times bestseller Salt, Fat, Acid, Heat. She was named one of Time’s 100 Most Influential People in the World and Chef of the Year by Eater. She is the co-host of the Home Cooking podcast, a former Eat columnist at The New York Times Magazine, and host of the Netflix original four-part documentary series based on Salt, Fat, Acid, Heat. A former Daily Cal writer who learned to cook at Chez Panisse, her second cookbook, Good Things, was published last fall.

Seth Rosenfeld, ‘90, is an investigative journalist and author of the 2012 New York Times best-seller, Subversives: The FBI’s War on Student Radicals, and Reagan’s Rise to Power. As a journalism student writing for The Daily Californian in 1981, he began the arduous research that led to Subversives, a three-decade Freedom of Information Act odyssey. The book reveals how J. Edgar Hoover’s FBI tried to silence the 1964 Free Speech Movement, and fire UC President Clark Kerr because bureau officials disagreed with his campus policies and gave Ronald Reagan personal and political favors. Rosenfeld pursued this FOIA project separately while working 25 years as a staff reporter for the San Francisco Chronicle and San Francisco Examiner, where he received the George Polk Award and other national honors.

Nina Easton, ’81, an award-winning journalist, author, and filmmaker, is Co-CEO of SellersEaston Media, a multimedia firm telling the stories of leaders and organizations through films, memoirs, and live events. At the Daily Cal, she worked as a reporter, international editor and managing editor. Easton spent a decade as a writer at the Los Angeles Times before joining the Boston Globe and later Fortune magazine in Washington. She was a regular television political commentator on Fox News Sunday, Meet the Press, and Face the Nation. Vox described her book, Gang of Five, which chronicles the rise of the Reagan-era conservative movement, as one “to read to understand the world.” Easton co-executive produced HBO/Max’s Gumbo Coalition, a civil rights documentary directed by two-time Oscar winner Barbara Kopple.

David Corvo, ‘72, longtime television journalist, spent the last two decades as the senior executive producer of Primetime News for NBC News. In that role, Corvo produced “Dateline NBC,” the longest-running series in NBC primetime history. He received multiple Emmy, DuPont and Peabody awards for his work on Dateline and other news specials. After serving as editor in chief of The Daily Cal, Corvo worked in local news in California. He later served as a vice president at NBC News and CBS News. As a producer, among many credits, he was creator and Executive Producer of CBS This Morning.

Bruce Jenkins, ‘71, has written for the San Francisco Chronicle sports section for the past 53 years, including as an award-winning sports columnist since 1989. He has covered 27 World Series, 19 Wimbledons and many other major events, including the Super Bowl, World Cup soccer, the NBA Finals, the four major golf tournaments and the U.S. Open tennis championships. A sportswriter for the Daily Cal, Jenkins has authored one biography of legendary Cal basketball coach Pete Newell, and another about his father, Gordon Jenkins, an arranger, composer and pianist who worked with the likes of Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, and Billie Holiday.

Susan Werbe, ‘68, served as Vice President Programming and Executive Producer for the History Channel from 1997-2014. She won two Primetime Emmy Awards, including one for the 2008 documentary “102 Minutes That Changed America,” on 9/11. She also won a Peabody Award for a 2006 documentary “Voices of Civil Rights” and created numerous, in-depth historical series, including “History’s Mysteries,” which had 154 episodes. During a turbulent period in Berkeley, Werbe worked at the Daily Cal, beginning as an education writer before rising to editorial page editor and managing editor. Early in her career, she served as a producer for CBS News, including work with Walter Cronkite, Bill Moyers, and Connie Chung.

We are also thrilled to announce the 2026 Daily Californian Alumnus of the Year, Tamara Keith, and Friend of the Daily Cal, Emilie Raguso!

Tamara Keith is NPR’s Senior White House Correspondent and has been on the beat through three presidents and four presidencies, dating back to 2014. She also co-hosts “The NPR Politics Podcast” and is a featured contributor on the PBS NewsHour, where she is one half of their “Politics Monday” duo. Keith has deep roots in public radio and got her start in news as a teenager by writing and voicing essays for NPR's “Weekend Edition Sunday.” Keith earned both a bachelor's degree in philosophy and a master’s in journalism at Cal, where she was reportedly the youngest person to have enrolled at the Graduate School of Journalism.

Emilie Raguso has been a reporter for 20 years, previously working at Berkeleyside and Albany Patch. Since 2022, she’s been providing in-depth coverage of public safety and policing in Berkeley as the founder and editor in chief of The Berkeley Scanner. Raguso has been a role model for our newsroom, covering city hall meetings alongside Daily Cal reporters and launching an independent daily news outlet, while also being a steady supporter and sometimes friendly competitor.
