Dear Friends and Family,
From February 11th to the 22nd, I will be heading to Ollantaytambo, Peru, with South Dayton Fellowship to partner with our sister church, Morning Star Church, in worship, prayer, VBS, and outreach in the region.
The 2026 trip will mark the 10th annual trip SDF has made in partnership with Morning Star Church.
What We Will Be Doing
Working alongside our Peruvian brothers and sisters in Christ, we will:
- Help build a community center to be used for weddings, funerals, conferences, community celebrations, and town meetings...
- Teach basic health and hygiene practices to improve long-term well-being among the elderly and infants
- Share the hope of Christ through personal conversations, prayer, teaching, and songs throughout the town
- Be part of two VBS teams that will drive throughout the region, doing two-day VBS programs in local churches.
What I Will Be Doing
I will have two jobs in Ollantaytambo. First, I will be using my construction skills to come alongside the local men to help build a community center for the entire town.
Second, in the evenings, I will be getting my guitar out and hitting the streets with other team members and members of Morning Star Church to share Jesus in song and prayer all over Ollantaytambo.
At first, this sounded like a crazy idea to me, but everyone assures me that the people of Ollantaytambo have come to love and look forward to the "crazy Americans" who wander the streets singing. We are known as the Wandering Minstrels!
The coolest part is, along with the singing, we will be stopping to share Jesus and pray along the way!
How You Can Help
🙏 Pray – Pray for my Spanish speaking skills! I have been working really hard learning phrases and practicing verb conjugations. I should have paid more attention to my parents (native Spanish speakers) when they encouraged me to "practice your Spanish, Alex...".
Please pray for my strength. Eight hours of construction followed by three hours of street ministry - I will sleep well!
✅ Give – The total cost of the trip is $1800 per participant. If just 24 people give $75 each, that will do the trick!
