Welcome to the 2025-26 Read-a-Thon!

SEF’s Eighth Annual Read-a-Thon is a great opportunity for our community to encourage reading
initiatives and provide support for our schools! Much like a jog-a-thon, students will ask relatives, friends, and neighbors for a pledge to support their efforts to read as much as they can with a minimum goal of 20 minutes a day. Last year’s Read-a-Thon was highly successful, raising close to $10,000. If each student was able to raise $25, we would exceed last year’s total! This money is vital to support our students and teachers with:
- Classroom Activities
- Supplies Field Trips
- Music and Enrichment
- Athletic Equipment

Minutes will be tracked for 2 weeks, from 11/5 - 11/19. Parents will confirm daily minutes read at
home. Teachers will sign for total classroom minutes at the conclusion of the Read-a-Thon. Reading
Logs will be collected on 11/20. For Brook Haven students, logs will be submitted to advisory teachers.

Pledges can be made through 11/21 (cash and checks) and 11/30 (online via Givebutter). Donations are tax deductible and can be made electronically via each student’s Read-a-Thon home page for Park Side @ https://givebutter.com/ParkSideReads2025 or Brook Haven @ https://givebutter.com/BrookHavenReads2025 or by filling out the paper donation form and turning in checks (payable to the Sebastopol Educational Foundation) or cash to the student’s teacher at Park Side or school office at Brook Haven.

Raffle tickets will be earned by meeting a student's daily reading goal (20 minutes) and collecting
pledges (each $10). Prizes will be viewable prior to the raffle. Students will be given raffle tickets and
will select which raffle(s) they would like to enter. Winners will be announced and prizes awarded during
the first week of December.

Al igual que en un Jog-a-thon, los estudiantes pedirán a familiares, amigos y vecinos que se comprometan a apoyar sus esfuerzos por leer todo lo que puedan con una meta mínima de 20 minutos al día. El Read-a-Thon del año pasado fue un gran éxito y recaudó más de $10,000. ¡Si cada estudiante pudiera recaudar $25, superaremos el total del año pasado! Este dinero es vital para apoyar a nuestros estudiantes y maestros con:
- Actividades y suministros para los salones
- Paseos
- Música y enriquecimiento
- Equipo

Se rastrearán los minutos durante 2 semanas, del 11/5 al 11/19. Los padres confirmarán los minutos leídos en casa. Los maestros firmarán por el total de minutos de clase al finalizar el maratón de lectura. Los registros de lectura se recogerán el 15 de noviembre. Para los estudiantes de Brook Haven, los registros se enviarán a los maestros asesores.

Las promesas se pueden hacer hasta el 11/21(efectivo y cheques) 11/30 (en línea com Givebutter). Las donaciones son deducibles de impuestos y se pueden hacer electrónicamente a través de la página de Read-a-Thon de cada estudiante para Park Side en https://givebutter.com/ParkSideReads2025 Brook Haven @ https://givebutter.com/BrookHavenReads2025 o completando el formulario de donación en papel y entregando cheques (a nombre de Sebastopol Educational Foundation) o efectivo al maestro del estudiante.

Los boletos para la rifa se ganarán al alcanzar su objetivo de lectura diaria (20 minutos) y al recolectar promesas (cada una de $10). Los premios pueden ser vistos antes de la rifa. Los estudiantes recibirán boletos para la rifa y seleccionarán en qué rifas les gustaría participar. Los ganadores serán anunciados y los premios se entregarán la primera semana de Diciembre.
