Murphy and I have been a Creature Comfort Pet Therapy team for three years. We have made well over 200 visits to nursing homes, mental health facilities, schools, colleges, libraries, and Hackettstown Medical Center. We’ve volunteered for United Airlines’ “United Paws” at Newark Airport, for visits to corporations such as Barclays and Audible, and for educational programs at the Liberty Science Center. Murphy has even provided comfort and joy at the Khe Sanh Veterans’ Reunion in Washington, D.C. in 2018.
When I see the wonderful reactions of people who interact with Murphy, I am amazed. He provides comfort and brings smiles to the faces of children and adults alike. I’ve seen him “listen” patiently to a child struggling to read aloud, and I’ve seen him distract and calm a very agitated resident of a memory care facility.
Since March, Murphy has been at a loss as to why we aren’t making any visits. Every time I’m heading out the door, he looks pleadingly at me with his honey-colored eyes and glances hopefully at his purple CCPT vest hanging sadly on its hook.
We can’t wait to get back to “work” so Murphy can give hugs and snuggles, and make people smile again.
Please support Creature Comfort Pet Therapy at this time to help us continue our pet therapy work.
