Want to have some FUN and learn to play a new and interesting instrument? Looking to meet new people and make music with them? Already play an instrument and want to broaden your horizons musically? Maybe you already play handbells and want to work on your skills and play some new songs with some new people?

Come joins us for a beginner handbell workshop hosted by Long Island reSound; Long Island’s premier (and only) advanced community handbell ensemble celebrating its 10th Anniversary this year.

Founded in 2014, Long Island reSound is an advanced community handbell ensemble based in Babylon village. In 2022, the group expanded and added a second advanced group based out of Rocky Point. Under the leadership of Jan Murray (director) and Jennifer Murray (group founder and music lead), they bring over 30 years of bell ringing experience to the group and want to share their experience with others. Who knows?? After this workshop, you may decide to join a handbell group, or head back to your own community or church, dust off the bells not being used and start ringing them again!

A big part of Long Island reSound’s mission is to bring as many people to the unique experience of ringing handbells as a group and making beautiful music. During this workshop, you will learn ringing techniques, respect of the instrument, and how to ring together as a team with the other participants. We will learn 3 songs, have a lot of FUN, meet new people, and put on a concert for family and friends.

LI reSound is a not-for-profit organization that aims to bring the joy and art of handbell ringing to as many people as possible. In order keep our group performing, maintain our instruments, purchase new music and continue to share the awesomeness of handbell ringing with others, we rely on donations, enrollment in our workshops, and merchandise sales.
