My Circle Knows Their Rights was created from one simple truth: legal literacy should not stop with one person.

The Know Your Rights Foundation wasn’t created because it was a good idea. It was created because it was necessary.

For years, we have seen families, neighborhoods, and communities across the country face fear, confusion, and uncertainty during police encounters and other serious legal moments. Too many people are forced to make life-changing decisions without understanding the basic rights that are supposed to protect them.

We saw fear where knowledge should have been.
We saw confusion where clarity could have helped.
We saw communities left without the tools they needed before the crisis happened.

And we recognized something simple but powerful:

When one person learns their rights, they become more prepared.
When a circle learns their rights, the whole community becomes stronger.

That is why we are launching My Circle Knows Their Rights, a peer-to-peer campaign that invites supporters to bring KYRF’s mission directly into their own networks.

Your circle may include your family, friends, coworkers, classmates, neighbors, church members, teammates, business partners, or community groups. These are the people closest to you. These are the people you care about. These are the people who deserve access to clear, practical legal education before they are placed in a moment where fear takes over.

Through this campaign, each supporter can create a personal fundraising page and invite their circle to give, share, and help expand KYRF’s legal literacy work.

Your support helps KYRF provide free and accessible resources, including:

Legal literacy education
Police stop law resources
Rights cards and community tools
Youth legal education materials
Workshops and outreach programs
Plain-language information people can actually understand and use

This work is personal.
This work is necessary.
And this work becomes stronger when more people carry it into their own circles.

We cannot wait until someone is already in crisis to teach them what their rights mean. We must educate, prepare, and empower our communities before those moments happen.
