Carole Blankenship's Story

I have been a member of NATS since 1990 and I have been honored to serve the National Association of Teachers of Singing in many leadership roles. In addition to the value of meeting wonderful voice teachers and collaborative pianists during these years, the ways that NATS has provided support for me and my students are countless. I have expanded my knowledge of the voice by attending NATS workshops and conferences. And my students have learned so much from preparing for student auditions, and by hearing wonderful student singers from all over the country singing in auditions. At NATS auditions the written comments our students receive written from voice teachers at the auditions, are invaluable. Because of the comments, the NATS student auditions are performance opportunities that have a huge learning component. The auditions take place in an environment of encouragement and support for the students and the teachers. I am so pleased that the NSAs will continue with named awards and with new categories for commercial music and for children and youth. NATS is always evolving to help voice teachers and their students. And so….NATS continues to transform lives through the power of singing.
