The Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago treats 220 new patients each year with pediatric cancers. The hospital is ranked 17th in the nation for their pediatric oncology program and 11th for their neurology and neurosurgery program by U.S. News & World Report.
Established in 1986, the Lurie Brain Tumor Center offers patients new treatments such as proton therapy, as well as access to treatments through numerous ongoing clinical studies. Lurie’s Brain Tumor Board completes comprehensive reviews of children's cases each week, and the Brain Tumor Center offers highly specialized and state-of the-art care for children of all ages.
Home institution for the current CBTTC chair, Dr. Angela Waanders, Lurie Children's was one of the four original sites to share their data through the CBTTC. CBTTC investigators Dr. Stewart Goldman and Dr. Oren Becher are currently working on a project that aims to identify genetic alterations that correlate with radiation injury.
