HEY CAMP LINCOLN, HOW DO YOU FEEL??
The Camp Lincoln Paddle Plunge is back! On April 10, just as the ice melts, YMCA supporters will create their best costumes and race into the water for a freezing dip in Kingston Lake to benefit the Southern District YMCA Annual Support Campaign. Why will they do it? Because they care! The Paddle Plunge raises funds which help make YMCA programs more affordable for families in need.
Those of you who know me, probably know that we are big fans and Camp Lincoln is a pretty special place to our family. Josh and Jenna both loved their days as campers, junior and senior CITS and then were lucky to work there as camp counselors for a few years. Plus, I even worked there a couple of summers, one year as the cooking camp counselor and for another summer as summer camp office assistant. Those 2 summers were some of the most fun working summers I had. Although it was tough for this old Momma to keep up with all the young counselors, I had the best time with the campers and co-counselors. I even had to pass the swim test, But, I chose to sit out on the staff watermelon tussle though, at the staff dinner.
Camp Lincoln helped our kids grow to love the outdoors and developed the 4 core values of the YMCA, Caring , Honesty, Respect and Responsibility as a cornerstone in all aspects of their lives now as young adults.
So, please consider making a donation to Help our team reach our goal of sending 20 children to camp for a week in 2021. Your support gives children in our community the gift of independence, self confidence, and fun!
