Get Ready to Bee Fit!

At our school, the bee is more than a mascot. Bees work hard, work together, and get a lot done as a hive. This fall, we’re putting that spirit into motion as Bee Fit Day returns, a community kickoff to keep every kid (and grown-up!) moving through the end of November.

Why we’re doing it
Kids are happiest and ready to learn when their bodies are moving. Bee Fit Day is a fun, low-pressure way to build active habits as a school family, and to raise money in support of our school. No one pays to take part, and each family decides what to give, if anything.

Saturday, 11/21 · 10AM-1PM · Kickoff at the track
Come run, jump, and play with your classmates, teachers, and families:

Laps around the track
10:00-10:45: 3K, Pre-K, and Kindergarten
11:00-11:45: 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grades
12:00-12:50: 4th and 5th grades
Standing long jump
Hula hoop
Jump rope
Basketball
Soccer

Rain or shine: if the weather doesn’t cooperate, we’ll move the fun inside to the gym.

How it works

Every child and their caregivers set up an individual Givebutter page, either before or at the event.
Share your page with friends and family. Send the link to grandparents, aunts and uncles, neighbors, and anyone else who loves cheering on your kid. Every donation, big or small, goes toward supporting our school, and a quick text or email is all it takes.
Each family picks their own activity goal, whether that’s laps, jumps, minutes of play, or something else. Goals are self-determined and self-tracked, so they fit every kid and every family.
Pages are grouped by class, and caregivers count as part of their child’s class team, so grown-ups, join in!
Keep going after the kickoff. The community has until 11/29 to reach their goals, and to keep sharing their pages.

What the hive can win

School-wide: If we reach 90% goal accomplishment together, everyone in the school gets extra recess!
Top class: The class with the highest participation and highest accomplishment percentage wins a field trip to [activity to be announced].
Most diverse activity: The class with the widest variety of ways to move earns a well-deserved reward after all that hard work: pumpkin pie and apple pie!

So lace up your sneakers, grab your jump rope, and set up your page. Let’s show what a hive can do. Bee Fit, Bee Strong, Bee Together!
