Who Are We? Bes & Beset – Leland Jackson Foundation (BBLJ) is launching a pilot program to support African American children with learning disabilities—beginning with a mobile learning center that brings education directly to them.

This initiative is a response to ongoing shifts in education reform—particularly the reduction of support for children with learning disabilities within Chicago Public Schools. These changes have disproportionately impacted Black youth, especially those navigating the DCFS system. Our work emerges from this reality, shaped by care, urgency, and a commitment to restore what’s long overdue.

To help bring this vision to life, we’re hosting an online auction of household items.

Her Wins, Our Future: Household Items Collection Each item in this collection was won by the founder’s mother through various game contests. Rather than keeping them, she chose to donate them to the nonprofit auction—turning her wins into a gift for the community. Every item is brand-new, never used, and offered in the spirit of generosity to help us raise funds for displaced African American youth.

Her gesture reminds us that even everyday items can carry legacy, care, and transformation. We’re also grateful for two generous contributions from vendors who believe in this mission.
