The Sewing Labs proudly presents, Make’n HERstory, a celebration of women who use their creative muse to make a living and a life. We are excited to come together again for our annual Gala celebrating our community.

Make'n HERstory is our signature fundraiser in support of The Sewing Labs. Our Friday evening Gala will be held on August 18, 2023 at 28 Event Space from 6:00 - 9:00 pm.

You are invited to participate in the online Silent Auction to support our cause while bidding on a lovely selection of items and activities. We have curated a collection of unique gifts, experiences, and services for your home and hobbies including jewelry, sports, maker items, food & drink, gift cards, and more. The silent auction will run from August 8th through August 18th, closing at 8pm on the evening of our event.

Our 2023 Make'n HERstory Gala will be an evening of cocktails and music following with a dinner buffet . Our 2023 Honorary Chairperson is Katie Maybry van Dieren, owner and Curator of one of the world's top indie craft fairs, The Strawberry Swing, the Founder and CEO of Shop Local Kansas City, and the Co-Founder of the Troost Market Collective and Craft Show.

Hear inspirational stories from the students of The Sewing Labs programs and understand how our mission supports these individuals' efforts toward gaining employment in the sewing industry, and achieving emotional & financial dignity.

There will be an appeal for your dedication and support to the students and programs of The Sewing Labs. Dress is Creative Cocktail attire. This is an intimate affair and so the space is limited.

The Sewing Labs stitches together women of different life-cloth and partners with other nonprofit agencies, organizations, and businesses in Kansas City, to build everyone up. NEVER underestimate the power of a sewing machine!
