In 2015, after a decade of design and fundraising, The Battery Conservancy unveiled SeaGlass Carousel, an immersive experience of movement, music, and light. Recalling The Battery as the home of the original New York Aquarium, SeaGlass’ remarkable nautilus shell pavilion and 30 grand, luminescent fish mesmerized visitors from the start, as it still does today. This visionary investment by SeaGlass’ earliest supporters - led by the American Express Foundation - made possible this carousel like no other.

On this special occasion we honor American Express with The Battery Corporate Leadership Award in recognition of their $100,000 gift to the SeaGlass Carousel Campaign in 2005. Made ten years before SeaGlass became a reality, this gift is proof of American Express’ inspired corporate and philanthropic leadership. American Express and its employees have dedicated their hands and hearts to The Battery’s revitalization since the Conservancy’s earliest initiatives, sharing our ambitions of a vibrant park for those who live, work, and visit Downtown.

It is a privilege to recognize the Founding Families and Foundations of the Carousel Campaign. Their commitment to the spirit of imagination brought SeaGlass to life.

We begin with cocktails at The SeaGlass Terrace, and of course, fin-tastic rides on the Carousel. As always, we promise a glorious sunset at the water’s edge and a delicious farm-to-table feast in the Bosque tent. Private donations fund 100% of The Battery’s maintenance, gardens, and educ ational programs. Your generous purchase of a table or tickets ensures our work continues.
