When asked why he does this work for the community, taking on the logistical headaches of orchestrating a fundraising event in the height of the summer season while running three restaurants, Joachim talks about his early days in Provincetown when the AIDS crisis was at its peak. He realized then that it was the women from the Outer Cape towns who were showing up to care for the men ill and dying from AIDS. Now, his philanthropy is focused on honoring the legacy of these women and through his commitment to HOW he serves not only some of these actual caretakers, but hundreds of women who live with chronic or serious health conditions in the rural communities of the Outer Cape.
