🎄 41 Years of Lighting Up Billings, and Protecting Its Children

Every tree tells a story. This year, help us write the next chapter.

For more than four decades, the Festival of Trees has been one of Billings' most loved holiday traditions. Over 10,000 people take part every year. Families stroll through rows of beautifully decorated trees, neighbors bid on one-of-a-kind creations, and local businesses shine as sponsors and vendors. It's a celebration of everything that makes Yellowstone County feel like home.

Behind every twinkling light is a deeper purpose: keeping children safe and helping families thrive.

Our Mission

Family Tree Nurturing Center has served Yellowstone County since 1986 with one goal: to stop the hurt before it happens. We work to prevent child abuse and neglect by strengthening families at every stage, from a baby's first days to the school-age years.

Our Vision

We picture a community where every child grows up safe, nurtured, and loved. In that community, every parent has the support, skills, and breathing room to raise healthy, resilient kids.

Our Approach: Meeting Families Where They Are

Our work is trauma-informed, relationship-centered, and rooted in prevention. When you support the Festival, you support:

Licensed, trauma-informed childcare and Early Head Start for infants and toddlers, with classrooms that stay full and waiting lists that keep growing.
Parent education classes that give 100s of families each year practical tools for raising confident, connected kids.
Home visiting programs, including Universal Home Visiting and Welcome Baby with Riverstone Health, that reach new and expecting moms right when support matters most.
Supervised visitation that keeps children safely connected to their parents.
Respite care that gives exhausted caregivers a much-needed break.
Programs at the Montana Women's Prison that help mothers stay connected with their children and prepare to come home successfully.

Why It Matters to Everyone

When families are strong, the whole community is strong. Prevention means fewer children entering foster care and healthier kids ready to learn. It means parents who can work and contribute, and a safer, more connected Billings for all of us. A dollar spent on prevention today changes the story for a lifetime.
