Bid on Something Special. Help Tell South Carolina’s Story.

For over 50 years, South Carolina Humanities has celebrated the people, places, and ideas that make our state extraordinary.

This year’s silent auction is more than a collection of great experiences, distinctive items, and South Carolina treasures. Every bid helps bring the humanities to communities across our state.

When you bid, you help SC Humanities support local museums, libraries, historical organizations, educators, scholars, and community groups. You help create opportunities for South Carolinians to explore our history, encounter new ideas, ask difficult questions, and better understand one another.

That work matters especially now. With federal humanities funding facing significant uncertainty and reductions, support from individuals and partners has become even more important to sustaining programs that reach communities across South Carolina.

So find something you love. Bid generously. Have a little fun.

Your winning bid does more than take something home—it helps ensure that South Carolina’s stories continue to be discovered, shared, questioned, and remembered.

Your Bid at Work

Auction proceeds support the work of South Carolina Humanities, including grants to organizations across the state, public programs and conversations, traveling exhibitions, educational initiatives, and opportunities that bring history, culture, and ideas directly into South Carolina communities.

Bid for the experience. Give for the story.

What Your Bid Makes Possible

Imagine a Smithsonian exhibition arriving not in a major metropolitan museum, but in a small South Carolina community.

This year, SC Humanities is bringing Americans, a Smithsonian Museum on Main Street exhibition, to communities across our state. The exhibition explores how images and stories of Native Americans have shaped American culture—and invites visitors to think more deeply about history, identity, and whose stories we tell.

For many visitors, an exhibition like this would normally require a trip hundreds of miles from home. Instead, we bring the humanities to them.

That is what your silent auction bid helps make possible.

It helps us bring exhibitions, conversations, grants, speakers, educational programs, and opportunities for discovery into communities that might otherwise have limited access to them. It helps a student encounter a piece of history differently. It gives neighbors a reason to gather and talk. And it gives local organizations the resources to tell the stories of their own communities.

When you bid tonight, you aren't simply bidding on an item. You're helping create the next humanities experience somewhere in South Carolina.

Bid generously. Someone you may never meet could be the person your winning bid reaches next.
