PFLAG New Orleans, one of the city’s oldest LGBTQ+ organizations, has served the community since our first meeting at the St. Louis Community Center in May 1982. Guided by our mission to promote the health and well-being of gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and queer people, and their families and friends, we provide support, education, and advocacy to foster understanding and end discrimination.

We host monthly in-person support meetings that offer a safe, non-judgmental space for parents, families, friends, and LGBTQ+ individuals. Our education programs include LGBTQ+ sensitivity training for local police, schools, churches, hospitals, and major employers, plus a weekly WHIV 102.3 FM radio show and a monthly newsletter. Through community donations we fund an annual scholarship program, awarding $1,000–$10,000 to LGBTQ+ students and surpassing $800,000 granted to date, empowering the next generation of leaders across Louisiana.
