What began as a small gathering of friends with care for their community has grown into one of the most successful golf outings in northeast Ohio. In 1996, Joe Vivacqua and his wife, Linda, hosted the very first golf outing to support a cause close to their hearts: Beatitude House. Inspired by the vision and compassion of Sister Margaret Scheetz—who founded Beatitude House in 1991 to help homeless women and children rebuild their lives—Joe felt called to help further this important mission.

That inaugural event brought together just 34 golfers and raised $400. But it also sparked something much larger. With the involvement of Linda’s father and brother, Fred and Pat Moran of Window World of Youngstown, the outing steadily gained momentum. Their leadership and dedication helped transform the event into a major annual tradition, creating real impact for families in need.

Now in its 29th year, the outing stands as a testament to what can happen when a community unites around compassion and purpose. The funds raised continue to support Beatitude House, now a ministry of Ursuline Sisters Mission, which currently serves 50 households in Mahoning County and 10 in Ashtabula County through supportive housing programs.

Ursuline Sisters Mission, rooted in gospel service, reaches even further through programs like the USM Scholars Program, which serves post-secondary adult learners, empowering them to become graduates, and the USM Children’s Program, which offers tutoring, homework help, enrichment activities, and case management services to children in need.
