Story

Join us as we'll be celebrating our powerful history.... like our co-founders Gail Pendleton & Sonia Parras Konrad helping to create laws that have protected hundreds and thousands of survivors and their children (check out Gail & Sonia talking about why they co-founded ASISTA). And we'll be previewing some of our plans for the future: how do we build on and strengthen our legacy over the next 15 years? We’ll also have some very special guests and some other great surprises!

Your support will make a tangible difference in the lives of immigrant survivors who have faced unimaginable challenges. This event is more than a celebration; it will also provide resources needed to allow for swift responses to harmful practices against immigrant survivors of domestic and sexual violence into the future.

Check out this short (96-second) but powerful video from Immigration Attorney & ASISTA Board Member Leta Sanchez. Leta really captures the importance of the work we do together. (Please know the video does discuss an episode of violence.)

With over 2,500 members nationwide, ASISTA's critical work includes:

  • teaching lawyers and advocates how to stop deportations through expert case consulation, training, and practical resources on up-to-the-minute legal developments affecting immigrant survivors of violence;
  • pushing for federal, state, and local policies that ensure safety and justice for immigrant survivors of gender-based violence; and
  • developing and supporting litigation campaings to prevent the government from unfairly deporting survivors of violence.

   We hope to have you as one of our supporters in this important celebration!
