To honor our son, Andrew's love of sailing and to foster the future generation of sailors, our family has decided to auction off many of his favorite belongings to raise funds for the Cape Fear Yacht Club's Youth Sailing program.

Andrew learned to sail at an early age which fostered a lifelong love of being on the water, sailing and adventure. His legacy is creating that same life-long love in others.

In an admissions essay for college applications, Andrew wrote, “I learned to sail at an early age. Learning to skipper or crew on a boat requires teamwork. Each boat has a leader, but everyone’s job on board is important. Sailing teaches you to challenge yourself, to be determined, and to never give up. Problem solving skills emerge as you attempt to harness the wind to the boat’s advantage and chart your path around the course factoring in wind direction, current and boat speed. No two days are ever alike. Mother Nature changes it up every day – just like life. Sailing has made me a much better person.”

Remember, the auction closes on Andrew's 32nd birthday 02.27.2024 at 2030.
