The Belonging Bash is Collaboraction Theatre's performance showcase + art gallery + auction that celebrates and supports the company’s PAID SUMMER youth employment in the arts program, The Light, and the creation of its permanent home – a new House of Belonging – in Humboldt Park.

We envision the House of Belonging as a fully realized community resource with a strong volunteer base and year-round afterschool programs offering internet access and tutoring. It will feature expanded community programming, including health screenings, clothing drives, food baskets, and other vital services. We also aim to grow our paid youth arts employment opportunities beyond the summer to support young people throughout the year.

Limitations imposed by our lack of space have restricted our growth. In 2024, that changed: we secured a long-term home at the Kimball Arts Center in Humboldt Park—an incredible opportunity to deepen our roots and revolutionize the way we serve our community.

Then came delays—permit issues that halted construction, cancelled revenue projections, and left our doors closed when the community needed us most.

The longer we wait to open, the longer Humboldt Park—and Chicago at large—goes without this vital hub for creativity, connection, and healing.
