An Evening to Enrich the Lives of LION Scholars

Join us at the historic Banknote Building in the South Bronx for an evening to enrich the lives of LION scholars on Thursday, October 24th from 6-8 PM. LION aims to raise $15,000 through this year's fall social event to support unique opportunities for our K-12 students. We recognize the power of providing students with outlets outside their regular school day to expand their minds and world.

This year's fall social will raise funds for the following experiences:

The launch of a new after-school coding program for elementary students
This year's World Scholars trip to Rome, Italy for 7th and 8th-grade students
Our competitive, award-winning high school athletics program

At our event, you will hear from students, staff, and families about the importance of each program and enjoy drinks and bites with members of our community and other LION supporters. You will also learn how your contribution will make each of these programs possible and how you can continue to support our students to explore their potential.

Elementary Coding Program

Elementary school is launching an after-school coding program in partnership with Code With Us. Students will engage in five-week courses to learn how to design games in Scratch. We are excited to offer this new program, which will help our students increase their mathematical reasoning and problem-solving skills, boost their self-confidence and communication skills, and learn digital literacy through creative means.

Middle School World Scholars Program

After the grand success of the World Scholars' inaugural adventure in Paris, France, students and staff will travel to Rome, Italy in May 2025. The World Scholars program aims to help LION scholars see the world and themselves in it. In Rome, students will explore art as a form of social change and consider how art and architecture can serve as catalysts to transform cultural and social institutions.

High School Athletics Program

LION's athletics program supports student-athletes to hone their athletic skills on the field and court while simultaneously building their leadership skills. LION aims to have all sports teams make the playoffs and continue to win championships this year. Sports teams offered this year include flag football, soccer, basketball, cheerleading, baseball, softball, volleyball, and track and field.
