We teamed up with some really cool third graders from Black Pine Circle School in Berkeley to make some really cool art!

Our 3rd-grade artists explored identity, community, and creativity through layered textiles — inspired by the vibrant storytelling style of artist Bisa Butler.

Using denim to represent our home in the Bay Area and Ankara fabric to honor Ugandan culture and heritage, students created art that symbolizes connection, belonging, and imagination.

Together Black Pine and Bayganda are raising money for BayGanda Community Park Project in Kabembe, Uganda — a safe and joyful place where children can learn, play, and grow together.
Every stitch and detail reflects our belief that play builds confidence, creativity, and brighter futures. There are 1100 children in this village and no playgrounds or parks.

Our work began in 2005, empowering the education of girls has become our organizations goal. BayGanda provides creative and academic education for kindergartens throughout Uganda. We know how essential PLAY is during the early child hood stage. Academics and PLAY go hand and hand. Join us as we bring PLAY to the children of Uganda. Our parks will be constructed with local materials integrating environmental restoration, community education, and cultural preservation. These parks will provide green spaces, for gardens and native trees.
