Founded in 1901, HSCC has been a trusted champion for animals and the people who love them for 125 years. Each year, we provide safe shelter and compassionate care to around a thousand homeless animals while delivering affordable veterinary services to more than 5,000 pets. Our mission is simple yet powerful: to ensure every pet finds a loving home and every pet owner has access to the resources they need to help their companions live happy, healthy lives.

About the Event

HSCC’s signature celebration, the Best Friends Benefit, will roll out the red carpet on Friday, May 29, 2026, at The Farmhouse at Essex Resort. Join us for an unforgettable evening honoring the extraordinary bond between people and their pets at Vermont’s most paw-some fundraiser of the year.

Guests will enjoy signature cocktails, delectable hors d’oeuvres, and live music from The Grippo Funk Band—all in support of our beloved animal shelter. Every dollar raised fuels the Humane Society’s vital community programs, helping keep people and their pets together when they need it most.

Dress Code
The dress code is Festive Cocktail! You're invited to dress your best — or your best friend’s best! From little black dresses to colorful blazers; from smart & simple to sparkly & snazzy: wear what makes you feel fabulous. Animal-inspired flair welcome!

Auction
Visit our online auction for some exciting experiences such as a weekend stay at Rawdon Golf Resort, gorgeous art, cooking classes for four and much more! The winners will be announced during the event.

This year's venue is held at the Farmhouse at Essex Resort and Spa. If you'd like to make a weekend of it, we encourage you to book a room at the venue's lovely hotel.
