“Music can change the world.” ~ Beethoven
Do you remember the moment that music changed your life? For me, it was in 4th grade, when my teacher played a recording of an orchestra. She taught us to listen for each instrument. I loved hearing the instruments individual sound, but when they came together with the other instruments, something magical happened! I will always remember that moment, that emotion, of being connected to something greater.
I believe that music education will forever be key to the foundation of developing character, building confidence, creating joy, and identifying life skills. I was saddened to learn that many elementary schools no longer have the funding to provide in-classroom music programs. I am grateful for the work of ChiME which helps fill the gap, providing more than 3,000 schoolchildren with access to music programs and therapy services.
I have had the privilege of observing ChiME in the classroom and am inspired to support its mission. ChiME is a non-profit organization which relies on donations. My hope is that much like the music of the orchestra, we too can come together and be part of a positive change in the world.
