Why Support DMRS?
- DMRS is a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit whose mission is to identify and bridge gaps for refugee families as they establish their new lives in central Iowa. We focus our efforts on refugee children and ensuring they have what they need to succeed in school and beyond.
- We believe that by providing the necessary assistance and opportunities for refugees to become self-sufficient and thrive, we will not only help ensure their long term social and economic success, but also strengthen our community as well.
- With only one full time employee and minimal overhead, nearly 100% of all event proceeds go directly to expanding our programming, which include: preschool enrollment & transportation, bus passes for high school students, Success through Soccer, summer camp scholarships, our seasonal farmer’s market initiative Women of the World, and the organization and sponsorship of three, free annual events that have become lifelines for our community: the Spring Free Store, the Back to School Free Store and Santa’s Ride.
