At the Bison Impact Group (BIG), we believe that Black communities deserve safe spaces, strong relationships, and opportunities to thrive. We use an unexpected platform to make it all possible:

Golf.

For us, golf isn’t just a sport, it’s a community-wellness tool, a healing environment, and a place where Black families and students can learn, breathe, and build healthy connections. Our innovative approach has been recognized twice by the PGA Tour’s Make Golf Your Thing Initiative, because we’re doing something different, and something urgently needed.

Why Our Work Matters

Domestic and intimate partner violence remains the leading cause of death for Black women under 45.
Black participation in recreational golf nationwide is still less than 3%.

BIG exists at the intersection of prevention, healing, culture, and access.

We collaborate with clinical social workers, mental health professionals, public policy experts, and violence-prevention partners to make sure that everything we do supports safer, healthier futures, especially for HBCU students who are statistically among the most vulnerable.

Your Impact So Far

This year alone, your support has allowed us to:

Donate $42,000 to Howard University’s Interpersonal Violence Prevention Program and Spelman College’s Violence Prevention & Intervention Program.
Expand our flagship “Soulful Sundays” to three new chapters across the DMV.
Launch new community violence-prevention events like our Mindful Mixer and children’s Healthy Behaviors Workshop.
Host the 6th Annual HBCU Golf Tournament, bringing together community, healing, awareness, and joy.
Grow youth-focused programs like the Legacy Economic Advancement Program (LEAP) and our new Book Club (launching 2026).
Lead wellness-centered events like Skip Day for Kids & Caregivers and Fab Body on the Fairway.

As we move into 2026, BIG is expanding, more campuses, more families, more community partners, more prevention work.
